Expect strikes at town’s new Dockyard…

March 6, 2026

East Riding Leisure have confirmed that the new six-lane bowling alley coming to the refurbished leisure centre is to be called Dockyard Bowl.

A vote was held on Facebook, asking the public for help to name the new state-of-the-art addition to the new Goole Hub. The four shortlisted options were Neon Strike, Ouselight Strike, Leisure Lanes and Dockyard Bowl, with the latter receiving the most votes. Cllr Nick Coultish, Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Tourism at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “Thank you to everyone who has engaged me with our poll on social media to name our new bowling alley at Goole Leisure Centre! It will be opening soon and I can’t wait for families and children to start enjoying this top-class facility. Residents have been asking for things like this for years and we’re delivering!” Goole Hub is due to open later this year.
